Upcoming Exhibit

Sixty Days at Taliesin: A Centennial Portrait

Painting in the orchard

For the last year and a half I have been coordinating this group exhibit. We are about to hang the work this week. The opening will be May 3rd, from 6 – 8 pm, at The Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, WI. Seventeen artists are represented, all having worked plein air on the grounds of Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright’s estate in Spring Green, WI. We were invited to paint there for the 100th anniversary of the estate during the months of June through August 2011. In addition to the paintings, many of us wrote about our experiences in a booklet we’ve produced that will be available to view during the show. This is the only public showing to date of the work created by all the artists.

Visualize and Share

When I look at the paintings on my website, I visualize where I was when each one was created. I feel the connection to what I was thinking and feeling as I worked there as if it were yesterday. I’m starting this blog for the purpose of sharing insight and stories related to my experiences, as a painter and teacher. My goal is to provide behind the scenes stories about new paintings, current class events, thoughts and images I find inspiring….and, ideally, a few laughs about the trials and tribulations of being a painter. Feel free to leave me comments at any time.
